DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF SAFETY


Reports to:  
Director of Safety
Department:  Safety
Classification: Exempt

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Assist HAI Director of Safety regarding safety-related matters
    • Provides safety perspective for internal discussions and projects
  • HAI Accreditation Program
    • Acts as the point of contact for the HAI Accreditation Program
    • Manages staff associated with HAI Accreditation Program
  • Safety Education
    • Works with the FAA Safety Team to develop on-line educational material 
    • Creates a library of safety educational material on the HAI web site
    • Develops an HAI “Speakers List”
    • Make Safety presentations on behalf of HAI as requested
    • Participates in safety forums and workshops
  •  HAI Publications
    • Write safety-related articles for HAI and other publications  
    • Research, analyze and report on helicopter safety and accident data
    • Presents HAI analysis of safety data
  •  Other duties as assigned

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS: 

  • College or advanced degree in aviation safety preferred
  • Five years of related helicopter safety, training and/or risk management experience
  • Five years as a Certificated helicopter pilot
  • Familiarization with auditing protocols and accreditation programs
  • Team player with proven ability to manage, mentor, and motivate staff
  • A passionate commitment to the promotion of helicopter safety
  • Ability to travel
