Overview: The Deputy Director provides support to the HAI Operations Department for matters relating to aircraft maintenance, certification, technical standards, and safety.

Essential Functions of the Position Include, but Are Not Limited To:

  • Providing auxiliary support to the Director of Flight Operations & Technical Services
  • Representing HAI at regional, state, and federal government meetings
  • Serving as liaison to state, national, and international aviation agencies and organizations
  • Assisting flight operation activities at the association’s annual tradeshow and convention, HELI-EXPO®
  • Responding to requests for technical assistance from the general public and HAI members
  • Contributing content for use in HAI’s printed and electronic publications
  • Providing guidance for HAI’s educational programs as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications and Requirements for the Position:

  • Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of seven years work experience related to helicopter maintenance, safety, and/or aviation management
  • Certificated helicopter pilot
  • Certificated airframe and powerplant technician or commensurate maintenance experience
  • Highly developed knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Experience interfacing with FSDOs, ACO, or Rotorcraft Directorate for the purposes of aircraft certification, STC development, or form 337 submission and processing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Self motivated; able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to travel if necessary
