Course Description:
This one-day Human Factors refresher course (part 3) is designed for all managers, supervisors, directors of maintenance, and members of upper management who have already been introduced to error prevention strategies through other human factors workshops and want to take the next step towards becoming leaders in their organizations. Participants are taught how to become mentors and role models with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
The course will review the human elements that can affect workplace performance, and explore the role of senior personnel in creating a culture conducive to maintenance error prevention, safety and awareness. Participants will gain the insight and the tools organizational leaders need to become effective mentors by exploring topics including goal setting, communication, conflict resolution, team building, and strategies for error prevention. Course is accredited for six hours IA Renewal.
Instructor:
Richard Komarniski, president of Grey Owl Aviation Consultants, Inc., a leading provider of human factors training, has been active in the aircraft maintenance field since 1974. He holds Canadian and U.S. Pilot and Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licenses and has worked as a director of Quality Assurance, base engineer, and airworthiness inspector. Komarniski has dedicated his time since 1991 to developing and facilitating Human Factors workshops for the aviation maintenance community as well as Safety Management Systems training for organizations. Additionally, Komarniski enjoys sharing his ideas on aviation safety through industry publications and at association conferences.

This workshop is designed for all current managers, supervisors, directors of maintenance, and upper management who serve as aviation mentors and who have already been introduced to error prevention strategies through other human factors workshops. The material covered will also be valuable to AMTs and those seeking to become managers.
