Course Description:
This six-hour seminar is designed to offer helicopter industry professionals, who may be in a transition phase of their career, an opportunity for learning and networking. New pilots and mechanics who are looking for inside information that may give them a competitive edge in the helicopter industry hiring process will also greatly benefit from the information covered in this seminar. Discussion topics, guided by industry leaders, will include resume preparation, career tracks and advancement in the helicopter industry, networking techniques, professionalism, and survival tips for a helicopter career.
Instructor:
Lyn Burks began his aviation career in 1991. Though he served as a U.S. Marine, Lynn was civilian-trained in Robinson Helicopters. During the initial years of Lyn’s aviation career, he worked for a Municipal Fire Rescue Department, serving 10 years with Fire Rescue before retiring as a Fire Captain in 1999 to devote himself full time to aviation. He has worked as a corporate pilot for Florida Power and Light, and holds an ATP/CFII Helicopter license with nearly 6,000 hours of flight experience. In addition to corporate flying, Lyn has experience in several sectors of the helicopter industry, including EMS, News Gathering, Charter, Utility, and Instruction.
Lyn serves as a helicopter industry recruiter and has written several online EBooks and articles about career development in the helicopter industry. He is the owner/developer of the popular helicopter industry Web sites Justhelicopters.com, Justhelicopters.TV, Verticalreference.com, and Helicoptersalaries.com.
