Course Description:
The objective of this workshop is to equip aviation maintenance technicians, supervisors, and managers with the skills necessary to enhance safety, teamwork and efficiency in the workplace, and therefore reduce aircraft maintenance errors. This workshop is in compliance with Transport Canada, FAA and EASA 145 and IA Renewal requirements.

The initial two-day, 16-hour workshop has been developed to give aviation technicians insight as to the human element that affects judgement in the workplace. Central to the workshop is an in-depth discussion and examination of the “Dirty Dozen”—a variety of human factors such as complacency, distraction, fatigue, and stress, which all affect the decision making process. Through behavioral analysis and actual case studies, the workshop will demonstrate how safety nets, or countermeasures, can be instituted by the technician to prevent incidents and accidents due to human error. Course is accredited for six hours IA Renewal. This course is NBAA PDP approved Human Factors PM9. All aviation managers and flight crews are encouraged to attend along with their technicians.

Instructor:
Richard Komarniski, president of Grey Owl Aviation Consultants, Inc., a leading provider of human factors training, has been active in the aircraft maintenance field since 1974. He holds Canadian and U.S. Pilot and Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licenses and has worked as a director of Quality Assurance, base engineer, and airworthiness inspector. Komarniski has dedicated his time since 1991 to developing and facilitating Human Factors workshops for the aviation maintenance community as well as Safety Management Systems training for organizations. Additionally, Komarniski enjoys sharing his ideas on aviation safety through industry publications and at association conferences.

Who Should Attend?
This workshop is designed for all AMTs, current and future managers, supervisors, directors of maintenance and upper management. Any person in a position of decision-making in aviation maintenance will find the material covered invaluable.
