Helicopter Foundation International seeks to foster the interest of young people in the helicopter industry through scholarship offerings and mentoring panels.
The Foundation preserves and promotes its vast collection of helicopter models, artifacts, memorabilia, photographs, documents and articles; all of which chronicle the history and development of the helicopter and the helicopter industry.
HFI will continue to grow its archives of recorded interviews of the pioneers of the helicopter industry.

Industry Outreach to Students Mentoring Program — In direct response to requests from students enrolled in, but not yet ready to graduate from, universities, colleges, and training schools, HFI developed a new Industry Outreach Mentoring Program. This Panel is tailored specifically to students interested in or enrolled in a field of study that prepares them to enter a career in the helicopter industry, or for students considering a career in the helicopter industry. Top industry leaders are invited to serve on a panel scheduled during HELI-EXPO^® each year.

The Panel Members answer questions posed by those in attendance, provide information on the general requirements of the various sectors of the industry with regard to entry-level positions, and strive to assist students to better understand the scope of knowledge and skill required in the helicopter industry. The commercial helicopter pilot and helicopter maintenance technician fields are specifically addressed, along with other various entry-level positions. Panel Members also answer general questions about the industry and the opportunities available.

Pilot Mentoring Program — A Panel of top industry experts share their experiences and expertise with students attending or just completing flight school or similar programs of study in colleges and universities, as well as with pilots already in the industry looking to obtain valuable information from seasoned professionals. Students considering a career as a helicopter pilot are also welcomed. The Panel agrees to donate time during the year to answer questions submitted through HFI staff so they can continue to be of service to the attendees.

Maintenance Technician Mentoring Program — A Panel of top industry experts share their experiences and expertise with students, recent graduates, and maintenance technicians already in the industry looking to obtain valuable information from seasoned professionals. Students considering a career as helicopter technicians are also welcomed. The Panel agrees to donate time during the year to answer questions submitted through HFI staff so they can continue to be of service to the attendees.
