This session is a basic course for understanding temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) and a brief description of what the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) NextGen holds for the helicopter community.
Learning Objectives/Benefits
The presentation will explain the TFR process so that participants will understand what a TFR is, who can request a TFR, and what the FAA is doing about TFRs that do not meet TFR requirements. The session will also present basic information on what NextGen holds for the helicopter community at large and preview the new technology and procedures that are forthcoming.
Instructor
Howard Sapp has served in the FAA for more than 25 years, working in every arm of the FAA, and has extensive knowledge of the National Airspace System. He has worked in the terminal environment for more than 15 years at large and small terminal radar approach control facilities and towers. Sapp has worked at FAA headquarters as a NextGen airspace specialist and now serves as the manager for terminal NextGen integration.
