Description
This seminar is designed to offer a learning and networking opportunity to helicopter industry professionals who may be in a transition phase of their career. Young pilots looking for information that may give them a competitive edge in the helicopter industry hiring process will also greatly benefit from the information provided in this seminar.
The instructor and his team of industry experts will guide discussion on topics including —

- Tips for getting hired and flying in the offshore oil industry and in the tour industry.
Objective
At the conclusion of the course, attendees will have basic knowledge of the helicopter industry and career paths within that industry; what it takes to be a helicopter professional; how to create a well-formatted resume highlighting your experience; tips for standing out during the hiring process; and important techniques for building a professional network.
Instructor
Lyn Burks is a civilian-trained helicopter pilot and holds airline transport pilot and certified flight instructor – instrument helicopter certificates, with nearly 6,000 hours of flying experience. He is currently a corporate contract pilot for Nextera Energy. Burks has experience in several sectors of the helicopter industry and has worked for electronic news gathering, charter, utility, emergency medical services, and corporate operations. His past experience includes service as a U.S. Marine and work for a municipal fire-rescue department for 10 years before retiring as a fire captain in 1999 to pursue a full-time aviation career.
Burks serves as a helicopter industry recruiter and has written several online ebooks and articles about career development in the helicopter industry. He is the owner and developer of the popular helicopter industry websites Justhelicopters.com, Justhelicopters.TV, Verticalreference.com, and Helicoptersalaries.com.
