Snohomish, Wash. – The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Air Support Unit Rescued an injured back-country skier located at 5200 foot level, east of Stevens Pass Ski Area.

Stevens Pass Ski Patrol was first on scene to render aid to the injured back-country skier who was outside the Stevens Pass Ski Area boundaries. The skier sustained a broken neck and serious head lacerations after losing a ski and falling approximately 100 yards.

One Helicopter Rescue Technician was lowered by the rescue hoist to a spot near the subject. Ski Patrol had the subject strapped to a back-board. The Ski Patrol assisted the Helicopter Rescue Technician with preparing the subject for a hoist rescue. Once on-board “SnoHawk 10” the subject was flown to Providence Hospital in Everett.
