Following a meeting earlier in May with a coalition of general aviation (GA) leaders on the issue of GA safety, FAA Administrator Michael Huerta sent a letter to the entire GA community in advance of the Memorial Day weekend and summer flying season.

In the letter, Administrator Huerta reminds everyone — pilots especially — to take advantage of training and currency opportunities, know the weather before each and every flight, foster a culture of safety, and call unsafe practices to someone’s attention.

“If we each make that commitment,” writes Huerta, “then together we’ll reduce fatal accidents.”
