Alexandria, Va. – Helicopter Association International, the FAA Safety Team, and the St. Louis Rotor & Wing Association, hosted the Midwest Regional Helicopter Safety Seminar in St. Louis, Mo., on November 15. More than 50 professionals from a variety of helicopter operations attended the event.

HAI on Nov. 11 joined 16 other aviation associations in pressing the U.S. Senate leadership to bring two important bills forward for a vote as soon as possible, before the 113th adjourns in December. "As associations concerned with improving aviation safety and security, we ask that you bring S.1804/H.R. 1204 and S. 1893/H.R. 2719 to the Senate floor for prompt consideration and passage in order to send these critical bills to the President for his signature."

Alexandria, Va. – Delford M. (Del) Smith, entrepreneur and aviation pioneer, passed away on November 7. He was 84. Delford was the founder of McMinnville, Oregon's, Evergreen International Aviation, Inc. and the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum.

On Monday and Tuesday, November 17 and 18, HAI will host a two-day summit intended to outline a path forward for the IFR certification of single-engine helicopters under Part 27 of the federal aviation regulations (14 CFR 27). Invitations have been extended to all Western certificated airframe manufacturers.
