Australia (The Canberra Times) - The ACT government has decided to get out the heavy artillery on one the country's most noxious weeds: blackberry. In a new scheme, a 3.6 metre long remote-controlled Yamaha helicopter will be equipped with two 10 litre tanks of herbicide so it can zero in on the weed at higher altitudes.

Cornwall, England (westbriton.co.uk) - A HAYNES manual has been produced of the iconic Sea King helicopter – to celebrate its 40 years in service. It has been involved in Royal Navy search and rescue operations and saved lives across Cornwall. As a fitting tribute, the well known Owners' Workshop Manual publisher has commissioned a book that allows the reader to get up close and personal with one of the Navy's most loved flying units.

The Adelaide Advertiser -  Tasmanian firefighters will be able to call on six federally funded aircraft to boost their fleet in an emergency this summer. The five helicopters and a fixed-wing plane will be at Tasmania's disposal and would be called in from the mainland if firefighters on the ground needed extra help.

North Bay, ON, Canada (baytoday.ca) - Canadore College's Aviation program has received a tremendous learning tool. In the Aviation Campus hangar, the growing local college unveiled a Bell 430 Helicopter air frame which was donated to the school.

West Kelowna, BC, Canada (globalnews.ca) — A West Kelowna company is putting up a substantial reward for the return of some stolen goods. The theft happened Dec. 5 on Peters Road where a van owned by Alpine Helicopters was parked. Inside, were helicopter parts worth nearly $400,000. Alpine Helicopters is offering a $5,000 reward.

South Georgia (oxfordmail.co.uk) - Two helicopter engineers are flying to a remote Atlantic island to lend their expertise to the world's largest rat cull. The expedition is part of an international effort led by Dundee University to wipe out the Norwegian Brown Rat, which is decimating the island's bird population.
