County Durham, England (Sunderland Echo) - Plans for a helicopter centre being spearheaded by a British Army veteran are beginning to take flight. Duncan Moyse is hoping an application for the complex at Shotton Airfield, near Shotton Colliery, will be approved by Durham County Council. He says the registered charity will be a groundbreaking development offering rehabilitation for former armed servicemen and women who have been injured in combat.

Logan, Utah (cachevalleydaily.com) - Aviation students at Utah State University now have another option for becoming pilots. Through the Aviation Technology Professional Pilot Program, students have already been able to learn how to fly an airplane and get a bachelor's degree in aviation, but now an emphasis on flying helicopters is available.

Janes - A new contractor is being sought to run the U.K.'s helicopter training organisation to replace the existing operation at RAF Shawbury. Six companies have been asked to bid on the programme that could be worth nearly GBP200 million (USD322 million) from 2018.
