Washington, DC - FAA Deputy Administrator Mike Whitaker announced to a group of aviation leaders at the NextGen Institute on September 18 that the FAA will hold a "Call to Action" summit to engage the aviation industry in meeting the January 1, 2020 deadline to equip aircraft with new avionics technology. The all-day session will be held on October 28.

cbc.ca - Nova Scotia paramedics on an EHS LifeFlight helicopter had a scare in the air this week. The Sikorsky S-76A helicopter was headed to Waterville from Halifax when the engine light came on. The company that owns the aircraft — Canadian Helicopters Ltd. — said the standard operating procedure is for pilots to assume the worst when there's a potential engine problem.
