Over the weekend, lawmakers in the U.S. Senate approved a $1.1 trillion deal to fund the government, sending the legislation to President Obama for his signature and averting a government shutdown. Of interest to the rotorcraft industry, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) funding saw only a small dip.

The Adelaide Advertiser -  Tasmanian firefighters will be able to call on six federally funded aircraft to boost their fleet in an emergency this summer. The five helicopters and a fixed-wing plane will be at Tasmania's disposal and would be called in from the mainland if firefighters on the ground needed extra help.
