Garmin continues to expand its global aviation chart coverage with the release of European terminal charts, including instrument approach charts, SIDs, STARs, and airport diagrams. Additional charts such as ground movement charts and airport diagrams are also available as part of the European FliteCharts database.

The 10th annual CHC Safety and Quality Summit was held in Vancouver, BC, Canada, from March 31-April 2. HAI's Director of Safety J. Heffernan and Director of Safety Outreach Stan Rose represented HAI, among 750 other safety professionals from around the globe.

The FAA announced on April 1 the drafting of new guidelines for dealing with potential cases of sleep apnea among pilots. Under the draft guidelines, pilots will not be disqualified based on body mass index alone, and pilots will be issued medical certificates even if they are referred for additional evaluation.

HAI President Matt Zuccaro got the chance at Sun 'N Fun to be one of the first people to fly a new motion helicopter simulator from Redbird Flight Simulations, aimed at the primary flight training market. Redbird says the simulator will allow pilots and student pilots to practice both hovering and autorotations.

Kaman Aerosystems announces delivery of its 1,000th H-60 helicopter cockpit to Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation. The milestone UH-60M BLACK HAWK helicopter cockpit was incorporated into an H-60 airframe that underwent final assembly at Sikorsky’s Bridgeport, Connecticut, facility and was delivered to the U.S. Army.
