On Tues., Sept. 18, the FAA issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) for more stringent Stage 3 Helicopter Noise Certification Standards. The rule proposes to adopt noise certification standards put forth by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) back in 2002.

The rule would apply to new type design and supplemental type certificate applications. The FAA claims the goal of these more strict standards is to “harmonize U.S. regulations with international standards.”
