Ultra Light Restoration Progress

Restoration of Fairey Ultra Light G-AOUJ is continuing to progress at The Helicopter Museum, where a dedicated team of volunteers was formed in 2011 to complete work originally started by the now defunct Cotswold Restoration Group.

Whilst the team has been concentrating on the airframe, the Palouste engine is currently with the Rolls-Royce Trust at Patchway, Bristol. In addition, a new H tail unit is being manufactured by apprentices at Vector Aerospace, Fleetlands.

Unfortunately however, several components have gone missing over the years offering engineering challenges to manufacture replicas. These include the main rotor head and the cockpit canopy glazings. The team is still puzzling over replicating these at a reasonable cost, and would welcome offers of sponsorship.
Please contact John Clews, Collections Officer at The Helicopter Museum at helicollections@btconnect.com if you or your company would like to be involved by offering sponsorship.
