Miramar, Fla. - The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Aviation unit recently selected the Becker DVCS6100 digital airborne audio control panel system for their two Bell 407 helicopters. Wysong Enterprises Inc. in Blountville, TN completed an extensive avionics and mission equipment upgrade for both aircraft during the summer prior to the CM aviation unit's demanding operations supporting the Democratic National Convention (DNC) held in Charlotte in early September.
The Becker DVCS6100 was chosen by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Aviation unit due to its unique ability to effectively manage and control all audio sources in the aircraft. Becker's Digital multi-channel audio and intercom system, with its software configurable profiles, provides the flexibility to specifically customize the system to meet the demanding operational requirements of airborne Law Enforcement organizations.
Brett Gardner, Director of Sales and Marketing at Becker stated, "We are excited the Charlotte-Mecklenburg PD aviation unit selected our DVCS6100 product. They had a challenging task to organize for and support the DNC earlier this month. They needed to enhance their aircraft capabilities to support that mission, so they decided to select a variety of new avionics equipment for their Bell 407's, which included our DVCS system. We are grateful for their trust and commitment to our product".
About the DVCS6100
The DVCS6100 design provides the customer with ability to match a wide range of operational requirements with only one system. The built-in scalability and flexibility reduces not only the cost and time requirements for constant re-engineering and certification for a tailored system solution, but also reduces the learning curve for integration, maintenance and troubleshooting time. Through software programming options, the system is both easily and quickly configurable to individual customer requirements, thus saving time and money.
The DVCS' open system architecture technology provides for operational comfort and superior voice quality, ensuring that almost any customer requirement can be met, while providing crystal clear communication for crew and passengers.
The state-of-the-art Digital DVCS6100 will enhance the effectiveness of any aerial platform. When compared to a legacy analog audio system, Digital technology provides simplified installation, improved performance, reduced wiring and weight, along with reduced installation and maintenance costs. Furthermore, the comprehensive built-in-test (BIT) feature enables line maintenance crews to easily diagnose/isolate failures and to replace system components quickly.
No matter what type of mission; from EMS to law enforcement, to passenger transport and surveillance or utility operations, the Becker Digital Audio system ensures a more modern and capable aerial platform.
Becker focuses on meeting individual requirements with the highest commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

About Charlotte-Mecklenburg Aviation Unit
Formed in 1971 through a federal Law Enforcement Assistance Administration grant program. In 1976 a Bell 206B Jet Ranger was purchased to replace the Bell 47, which was no longer being produced. The Aviation Unit, when replaced as the primary unit, had flown more than 13,500 hours. In recent years the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department acquired a new Bell 407, which is now the primary patrol aircraft. It has more advanced crime fighting features and capabilities.Charlotte-Mecklenburg PD now operates two Bell 407s.
The unit has operated 25 years accident free. The aviation unit's primary mission can best be described as providing an aerial platform to support the Officers of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. In recent times their strength has been their ability to provide airborne support to the patrol officer through the use of time proven methods and state-of -the-art technology.
