High Consumer Confidence Suggests Little Fear of 'Fiscal Cliff'


According to the Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan preliminary October consumer sentiment index, consumer confidence for October reached its highest level since September 2007.

The Oct. 12 reading confirms the implications of an earlier Gallup survey: Americans either are not aware of the looming threats to the economy, known as the "fiscal cliff," do not care, or have faith lawmakers will head the threats off.
